about

With Keep Calm and Carry On the band continues it's exploration of unconventional song structure. The song is a twisted ballad about naive love. It takes on a cinematic a 3-act form, exploring a relationship where feelings of jealousy and paranoia twist a loving relationship into something toxic. Its pop chorus and a hopeful climax inspired by the Beach Boys and post rock legends Mogwai. At the 2-minute mark the song turns from a pop-driven love-song, building to an emotional crisis at the height of tension in the relationship, eventually releasing into the breakdown of the relationship. This British wartime slogan takes on new meaning in the modern world, as a mantra of grit and resilience.

lyrics

[Verse 1]
You are all I think about and have been since we met
Pour yourself a drink
I'm gonna need a safety net
Once I stop falling
When I've collided with the Earth
So here's to us
Who both know what your life is worth

[Verse 2]
I woke up to your smell
Hard rain like daggers 'round us fell
In your fertile soul
Our pieces merged against our control
So come to Paris with me
Let our fermenting love mature
Eternal youth is in Parisien liquor

[Bridge]
You built me up like the Berlin wall
Then tore me down
Unopened flower on a waterfall
On higher ground
A level playing field
An open goal and a mutual friend
I never meant to pollute your soul
But would again
Yeah yeah

[Coda]
To spare me your self-righteous indignation
I've cut off all forms of communication
There's no hope of rehabilitating me
So keep calm and carry on

I'm out of touch with my generation
I've lost control of the situation
There's no hope of rehabilitating me
So keep calm and carry on
